There’s been a few aspects of INA that I’ve been developing little by little which might just seem obtuse to most people since I haven’t written about it much. There is the matter of trustbonding (which I hope to have explained in a short story sometime) and matebonding, which are one of the cornerstones on which characters in the INA setting interact with one another. The basic concept is: once someone is matebonded with another, they’re internally prompted to remain monogamous. (With some caveats, but that’s not important right now)
In Riki’s tribe, homosexual relationships are expected for young males and females up until they end up with a matebond of the opposite sex (unless, of course, that’s not for them, in which case they end up settling down with the same sex). In this particular case, Riki’s been of-age to be matebonded, but he’s been holding out for the love of his life, Kiti, for a very long time. His hunter Deiko still flirts with him nonetheless, hoping he’ll give up his pointless pining … and she’s likewise annoyed that he can be as intimate as he likes with her younger brother, Aiko.
The rivalry isn’t bitter or anything—they’re all trustbonded and would not intentionally harm one another. But she still teases them about it when it’s late and she’s had too much to drink.
--This is also basically dipping my toes into a few more adult situations in my stories. I find the candid aspect of sexuality to be underutilized and think it could add a lot of flavor to stories beyond just rubbing some parts together. I talk about it a little here http://alabastermenagerie.tumblr.co.....-talking-about

This and the tumblr post make a good point, but it brought a few thoughts to mind. Up to this point, you've chosen not to draw porn, and I think we all respect you for that. But if there's going to be so much sex in your future works, as I've inferred from the conversations above, I have a hard time believing you'll be able to pull it of without at least giving us a glimpse of a penis. You've already shown us plenty of full frontal nudity. I'm not saying you'll be any worse or better a person for creating explicit content, nor do I think you should feel that way about yourself. I'm just saying that to me, it seems inevitable.
Speaking of porn, I must admit to looking for RickGriffin Imitators who do draw porn. They're out there, but they're nowhere near as good as you.

I'm not saying you can't. I mean, just look at this picture. They're obviously having passionate anal sex. What I'm saying is that some point, we're going to see something. And that something will probably be just a glimpse, and either plot-related, or straight-up fanservice.
Not to mention that the true ability of a narrator -and Rick IS that good- comes just from making it clear there is sex involved without going all-show regarding the naughty bits. Lampshading can be far more efficient.
Not to mention, again, that in this specific case, we've got the cutest and funny situatioin

Hee hee, this is a fun pic! I like the comedic situation that these tribal rules allow. I also like the inking and crosshatching. It's a clear style that leads the eye well.
What's not so clear is the narration. I got a little lost in the names and relations. Forgive me for being dense, but let me just make sure I understand what's going on here:
Riki (center, male) is interested in a long-term relationship with Kiti. He is avoiding any intimacy with other females because that would be seen as making him unavailable to her. He is casually intimate with Aiko but since Aiko is male there is no long-term commitment unless declared by them.
Kiti (not pictured, female) is not interested in Riki but is not in a relationship with any other male either.
Deiko (left, female) is a professional colleague of Riki but she wants to be in an intimate relationship with him. She is frustrated that any intimacy with him would be seen as a serious relationship so she can't work her way into his affection gradually. She is even more frustrated that her brother can be casually intimate with him but she can't, for a difference of only tribal rules that she did not create.
Aiko (right, male) is casually intimate with Riki. He is embarrassed that his sister is so interested in his sex life, perhaps not realizing that her interest is in his partner and not himself.
Is that pretty close? Or have I made my own farcical misunderstanding of the situation?

That's pretty close! The only thing I haven't really elaborated on much is the "matebond"--it's not just a ritualistic thing, it's a psychobiological thing that everyone has in this setting. Basically, when a male and a female matebond, it makes sexual relationships with anyone outside of the bond harder to pull off. (This also isn't a bad thing--the way the bond works helps ease tension of "rejection" . . . but it is a source of stress for those not yet in a matebond because once it occurs, it's permanent) So Riki hooking up with Deiko would mean he wouldn't be able to recant and hook up with Kiti in the future unless Deiko actually died.
One wonders how an asexual or those with an aversion to stork summoning or any intimate contact with others would be treated in that society. I'm sure others would notice and have opinions on it. Would they accept it, however reluctantly? Would they consider it aberrant? Would they think it's stupid, but it's the asexual's choice or would they think a "good" rape would fix the asexual right up?

I've tried to inject a sense of sexuality into some of my stories. It's hardly porn, but more of an awareness that people are interested in sexual subjects, even if it's just "tee-hee", titter behind the fingers, "she did what?" gossiping. In some cases (mostly not published), how a character deals with sexuality, his/her hangups, and the resulting consequences of their choices towards their sexual interests contributes a lot to a plotline.
